About the Project

Addressing the transparency gap in cross-border prescription drug pricing through independent data and patient education.

The Context

According to data from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), prescription medication prices in the United States are the highest in the world, running more than double the average of other industrialized countries. For millions of Americans—particularly those who are uninsured, underinsured, or facing high deductibles—these costs represent a direct barrier to essential medical care.

In response, cross-border healthcare has emerged as a widely utilized safety valve. Public health surveys estimate that nearly a million residents from California alone travel into Mexico annually to purchase prescription medicines. However, this trade operates with very little public data. Patients frequently cross the border or order online without prior access to verified pricing, regulatory checks, or legal guidelines.

Our Objective

Vooyfarma is being established to bridge this information gap. We are building an independent directory and search platform designed to map, track, and compare the retail cost of maintenance drugs across licensed pharmacies in the United States and major Mexican border towns.

By providing transparent, up-to-date pricing data alongside structured educational guides, we aim to help patients:

Methodology and Trust (YMYL Standards)

Given the direct impact of healthcare information on personal well-being, Vooyfarma operates under strict editorial standards modeled on public health reporting:

1. Scientific and Active Ingredient Focus

We do not rely on commercial drug names alone. All database entries are indexed by their international nonproprietary names (generic chemical names) to ensure medical accuracy and clear therapeutic equivalence.

2. Complete Commercial Independence

Vooyfarma is not a pharmacy. We do not sell, ship, distribute, or broker medications. We maintain zero financial relationships, affiliate referral contracts, or marketing partnerships with drug manufacturers, pharmacy chains, or distributors on either side of the border. This ensures that our price reports are objective and free from commercial bias.

3. Prioritization of Safety and Legality

We do not list controlled substances or medications flagged as high-risk by the FDA. We explicitly outline the legal boundaries of personal drug importation and emphasize that all therapeutic decisions, purchases, and substitutions must be made in consultation with a qualified medical professional.

Medical Disclaimer: The information provided on Vooyfarma is for educational and price-transparency purposes only. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult your physician before modifying your medication regime, purchasing drugs abroad, or altering prescribed dosages.
